Developed to allow the straightforward removal of waste plastic film directly from the transport flow, a light fraction separator (LFA) increases the performance of sorting facilities, and also prevents filter systems from clogging. To make maintenance as easy as possible, the separator is equipped with a hydraulically opening flap. The separator impresses with its above-average separation efficiency and an availability which is just as high.
Operating principle
The light fraction separator operates according to the principle of a rotary feeder. Air laden with plastic film and other lightweight fractions is fed to the separator. A perforated grid prevents unwanted material from being carried along any further. Instead, this material is moved along by blades which are arranged on a shaft turning at a constant speed inside the perforated plate basket.
From a defined rotational position onwards, the negative pressure ceases to have effect in the chambers, and the plastic sheets fall down to where they can be collected and removed accordingly.

Automatic dedusting
The perforated plate basket is cleaned using compressed air, while the blowing intensity may be adjusted to between 3 and 6 bars using a pressure reducer. The blow nozzles we developed guarantee that the entire cleaning surface is covered.
Differential pressure monitoring
Differential pressure monitoring helps to check the degree of separator contamination in order to ensure more appropriate maintenance. A sharp rise in differential pressure may indicate, e.g., an obstruction in the pipeline.
Rotation monitoring
To continuously monitor the rotation of the rotary feeder, the drive shaft ca be equipped with an additional sensor. This enables plant owners to respond at an early stage if there is any disturbance in the light material discharge.
